description

Maarsen Groep asked studio Kim Seijmonsbergen to design a book about their Gershwin Brothers building located on the Zuidas. The book consists of interviews from all parties who contributed to the building. The book includes photography of the construction process and portraits of the interviewees. On the cover a vista over the whole Zuidas. A very matte cover paper was used, and on the inside a paper that looks a bit shiny but feels very matte. Photography goes very well on this paper. The typography for the headers derives from the 20’s in New York, the time when American composers George & Ira Gershwin lived and worked in NYC.

Gershwin Brothers consists of two separate buildings with luxury rental apartments, built on an underground parking garage. The buildings are designed together, but each has its own character. Their sculptural shapes are determined by the position of the sun, the view and the urban planning orientation.
